THE BODY SHOP – D&AD

Competition entry for D&AD.

Bespoke typeface designed to feature on all shop signage, packaging and advertisements. The packaging is built around sustainable materials, using a mixture of GMUND Bier paper and cork. In a bid to use minimal solvents and oils in the packaging I opted to laser cut and etch into both the labels and the bags therefore removing rather than adding to the packaging. In the case of the bags nothing but a sheet of bier paper is used.

Alongside the packaging I created an ambient advertising campaign that strays from convention and works well with the subtlety and elegance of the previously considered pieces.  As with the barcode, the focus here is with growth. The premise being that The Body Shop drops subtle hints into the urban environment that it occupies. Anything that is made up of parallel lines can effectively be made into a young forest.
